Submit to FDG and showcase your talents!

For the artists who are looking for an awesome place to exhibit your work this is it! The deadline for submissions for our upcoming fall exhibition is October 31, 2013.  Submissions must include all of the following in order to be considered:

(1) JPEG files of the artwork (no links please!),

(2) the title,

(3) the year of production,

(4) dimensions,

(5) medium,

(6) year and program of the artist,

(7) a brief artist statement (we are only looking for a couple of sentences). 

There is a maximum of 5 submissions per student.  You can submit your artwork to fridgedoorgallery@gmail.com.  We are looking forward to seeing your work!

Welcome to Fall 2013!

It's a new year and, now that add/drop period is over, the Fridge Door Gallery would like to welcome you all to Fall 2013!

Firstly, thank you to everyone who came to visit us at Activities Night. You all showed a lot of interest and that makes us even more excited to get started!

**Call for Submissions**

McGill University is proud to host its very first Relay for Life event to raise funds for cancer research. As stated by Statistics Canada, almost one out of three people gets diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. Although most cancers have their corresponding treatments nowadays, there are still many types that are incurable; and, nevertheless, this disease brings devastation in life and significantly effects the families. As a response to advocate and help out this cause, McGill Relay for Life welcomes all artists to contribute by submitting an original artwork that support the themes: Hope and Fight Back. Prospective artists may choose to work individually or in groups, and there are no restrictions in mediums for how the work is presented. Submissions should be received by September 28th, and will be displayed at the event on October 5th.

FDG at Activities Night

The Fridge Door Gallery kicked off the new academic year by participating in McGill's Activities Night for the first time ever! So, if you have stumbled upon this blog as a result of seeing our table at Activities Night: WELCOME!

This year, we really want to work with the AHCSSA (Art History and Communications Studies Student Association) to organize gallery-crawls and other art related events.  Of course, we will also be putting together two vernissage art shows, with some wine and cheese.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer curator, if you want to get your artwork displayed across campus, or if you just want to chat about awesome art-and-gallery related things, don't be afraid to shoot us an email at fridgedoorgallery@gmail.com.
